I had the opportunity to partner with Eva•nyc and Ulta Beauty to test out a few products of the Eva•nyc haircare line. First I chose to try Get Glossed! Hair Serum. When it comes to my hair, it is quite challenging to tame. It is the opposite of virgin and had been bleached, dyed, heat applied, you name it. Over the years my hair has lost some shine and no matter how many avocados I eat, the shine doesn’t come back. That’s when Get Glossed! came into my life and my hair is as if it was never even dyed. It added instant shine and is extremely lightweight. Some oils and serums I have used on my hair in the past made it look oily or greasy but Get Glossed! however did not. It leaves your hair feeling soft, shiny and adds an instant Argan aroma. I put two pumps in my palm and applied to my ends. I did two pumps because I have extremely thick and dense hair, but one pump should work for normal, fine or thin hair. This serum also helps breakage and increases the elasticity of hair. You can use this product on wet or dry hair, before or after styling! I straightened my hair (pictured below) with a flat iron and then added the serum. I am very happy with the end results and my hair smells and looks beautiful.

I then tried out Surf’s Up! Texture Spray which enhanced my hair’s natural wave. It is a spray in which provides a beachy, tousled look, without even hitting the beach. Perfect for the winter to achieve that look or just in time for the summer. If you don’t want to spend hours in the sun and burn to a crisp, but still have the effects of the gorgeous hair as if you did, then this is the product for you! I love a good beachy look because my hair is so hard in fact to tame, as aforementioned. I have big hair and it is not just because I am from New Jersey. It’s what I  was born with, now you see where Mase gets it from. This spray is also great if you do spend all day at the beach and want to give your already beachy hair some oomph. It adds a sexy, matte finish and refreshes your hair. This product also is lightweight and will not make your hair feel hard or sticky.

I hope you enjoyed this review and go pick up some bottles for yourself to try. I assure you, eva•nyc will not disappoint. These can be picked up at your local Ulta Beauty stores and now even CostCo!

Anti-Brassy Blonde

One of my best friends is a hairstylist and she comes to my home to cut my hair. Today she came and cut off about two inches and it got me in the mood for a hair post. Recently I went all blonde which made me have to change all of my hair products. There’s no denying that being a blonde can severely damage your hair, so you have to take extra, and I mean EXTRA care of it. Below I will describe the products I use and love and why I use and love them!

1. Shimmer Lights Shampoo & Conditioner: I use this shampoo and conditioner because it is purple and it cancels out any brassy tone that may be lingering in my blonde. Brassy works for some, not for others. It doesn’t work for me and I prefer ash blonde. I use this every time I was my hair, which is about twice a week. Also, due to heat from your scalp, your blonde can turn even more yellow-y so I highly suggest applying the shampoo to your roots about 20 minutes before showering and leaving it there. Once in the shower, rinse and apply conditioner and leave on for about 10 minutes to really penetrate through the cuticle. Another tip I suggest is to wash your hair with warm water but end the rinse on a cold temperature. This will close the follicle and keep in moisture. I also highly urge you to detangle right before rinsing out conditioner. This will save you so much time post shower.

2. It’s a 10 Miracle Leave in for Blondes: This formula is a game changer. I always like to put in a leave in conditioner because it makes my hair smooth, easier to handle and provides moisture and hydration all day long. Your brush glides through your hair after applying this. It tones, adds shine, enhances vibrancy and is a UV and thermal protectant. Although the bottle is small, it doesn’t last me too long but it is worth every penny when I restock.

3. Dry Shampoo: This is for the days I do not was my hair. This is great for a post-workout, it will make you feel so fresh and clean and does not provide that build up feel. I really have never met a dry shampoo that I didn’t like. I use Pantene in particular because I love the smell and results. Also dry conditioners are amazing as well!

4. Blondeshell Keratin Complex Masque: Masking isn’t just for your face, especially when you are a blonde. This step is so crucial, it is basically like a moisture shock to your hair, as if you just conditioned it 20 times. Okay, conditioner on crack! This is really important to do after a lot of heat applied to your hair, dying your hair, being in the sun for an extended period of time and after swimming in a pool. These will all suck moisture out of your hair and the sun and chlorine will cause discoloration. Masks help out the moisture back in and debrass the unwanted tones. I like to leave a mask on overnight with my hair up in a towel and wash it out in the morning. This method works best for me. I urge you to try and give me feedback of how awesome your hair feels the next day.

Another tip I have is to start brushing your hair out from the ends and work your way up. This is for best detangling results. Put your hair up in clips rather than hair ties. Hair ties cause breakage, I barely use them anymore. Also when working out, when a clip just won’t suffice, braid your hair. This will keep your hair out of your face and also cause less damage. I also must say that vitamin C is so great for taking any impurities/buildup, unwanted color out of your hair. You can either crush up some vitamin C tablets into powder form and mix with water to create a paste, or mix an Emergen-C packet with water and apply on hair for about 5 minutes, then rinse and condition. Your hair will look so bright and beautiful. Feel free to apply this paste to your face as well! I hope you found this post helpful and enjoyable. Please leave any blonde or hair care tips you may have. I would love to hear! Thanks for reading, and have a very happy Tuesday!

Getaway Essentials

Andrew surprised me with tickets to a getaway for Valentine’s Day. I was so excited to be somewhere sunny and warm with palm trees. I knew I had to get some serious packing done for a 16 day trip. I went to the store and purchased everything new and most of the items travel size. I love to travel light because I find sclepping it through the airport is a wee bit easier with a toddler. One that I literally had to run after every second. So a light bag for me is a great bag! Pictured below are some of my all time favorite products and there was no way I could bring travel sized shampoo/conditioner. My hair is thicker than my thighs and so regular size had to do. Also, Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana used to actually give me headaches but now I am hooked. Funny how my smell tolerance for it has changed. I figured a crisp, light, almost citrusy scent would be perfect for a trip to paradise. As for my teeth, they are the most sensitive things in the world, nothing like my personality, ha! So if you’re wondering why I have to use Sensodyne, it’s to save me from seeing stars from anything I eat, hot, cold or room temperature.  Also, this Shape magazine was the perfect read for the plane ride to get me motivated to stick to a daily workout routine on my trip. Although as soon as I landed, I had a cheeseburger, French fries, hot dog, pizza and washed it all down with a beer. But let’s just forget you even read any of that! Besides, don’t all rules go out the window while vacationing!? What are some of your getaway essentials? Please let me know if I am missing any traveling saviors. Xo.
