Lumberjackie

I am loving plaid lately and I used to just think it was for Fall, but boy was I wrong. My sister gave me this coat and I fell in love. I love how big and baggy the fit is (I’m wearing a medium). I saw this coat and envisioned a mustard shirt with dark denim. And that’s just what I wanted until I realized I do not own one mustard shirt. I drove my booty over to H&M and found this linen shirt for $5! Not to mention while I was there I also got these three necklaces, all under $6. So yea, they are having a huge sale, like every other store right now trying to rid winter merchandise. Man time flies by, and today is thirsty thursday so whose having a drink? I hope I will be!

Today is the day I start my workout regimine. JUST KIDDING. As much as I want to get into the new year new me workout spirit, I just can’t and food gets in the way every damn time. But wearing workout clothing makes me feel so good, like I just did workout but I didn’t. That’s why I love athleisure, it always makes you feel some type of way. Now I’m not saying that this crop top hood IS athleisure, but it works as that and that’s how I styled it. I also added a pair of leather leggings, (that I would never work out in) but since I didn’t I wore them. This hoodie is from a site called Rosegal which is another fast fashion website. There are a variety of apparels for super cheap, like dirt cheap. For instance, this hoodie, only $25. A Vetements hoodie is about quadrupole that. Pictured I am wearing a medium so it may run a bit big but that’s how I like my hoodies, very roomy so they are extra comfortable. I also love the feeling, extremely soft and stretchy. I would say this brand is very comprable to Zara, same price points, same styles.

Also, today is the last day to enter my JORD watch giveaway! Link in bio on my Instagram (@jaclyndemuro) good luck!

Hello

Andrew and I had the absolute honor to meet the founder and CEO of Hello Products. He is seriously the nicest man ever, besides Andrew. Mason was with my sister for the weekend, last weekend and I decided to go work for Slab Supply for the day. Low and behold two men walk in the door and spend some time taking a gander. We got into talking and Andrew asked what they do for a living blah blah blah. Nonchalantly, Craig, the CEO says “oh I own a toothpaste company”. The man he was with was wearing a “Hello” beanie and I said, “hello toothpaste”? And he said oh wow you know us! And I said of course I know you! You guys have the coolest packaging/marketing. I’m a sucker for good marketing. The packaging is extremely clean and minimal. Love that. Turns out the man in his Hello beanie was the graphic designer so yea he is pretty talented. So, they wind up buying a beautiful spalted maple conference table and from there it was history. Andrew delivered the table (and they are located right in Montclair!) and they hooked us up with two huge bags of all different varieties of toothpaste, toothbrushes and breath spray. They also hooked Mason up with kiddie toothpaste. I originally saw this Hello toothpaste in my sisters bathroom a while ago and then started seeing it in stores. I was always drawn to it but never bought it. I guess the universe led me to this reason right here why. We now have enough Hello toothpaste for a while and it is so amazing I could literally eat it. The Mojito Mint, need I say more? It’s almost better than the real thing. The toothbrushes are made out of recycled yogurt cartons which I love a good recycled product because duh, better for the environment and for my kids future, the bristles are soft and really clean your teeth. There are no chemicals in this toothpaste that will wear away at your enamel, which is why so many people have sensitive teeth. Unfortunately me being one of them. But not anymore thanks to Hello! And also there are no foaming agents which are carcinogenic so this toothpaste does not foam. It took me like a day to get used to and now I don’t think I could ever go back to that crap. These products make me want to go to the dentist just so I can see how much my teeth are improving. Flavor so good and teeth so clean, what more can you ask for? Mason is also a huge fan of his toothpastes and loves the flavors. I haven’t tried them but I trust his feedback. The breath spray is also pure so even Mason can use it. Although he doesn’t like it because he hates Mint. Mint is too spicy for kids anyway so more for me! I hope you guys will go give it a shot because it will not disappoint. Also, I was not paid or told to write this post. I simply did it because I LOVE the product!

29 and feeling fine

Today I turn 29. Yes I am a proud Capricorn, I love starting off every new year a year older and wiser. It feels good it feels the same it feels special. This is the last year of my life I will ever again say I am twenty-something. I was and never have been a “birthday” girl. I never was the type to let the world know it’s “my day”. In fact, ever since I was younger, like elementary days I would play hooky and not go to school and as I got older I would call out of work. Every year. I never wanted to make it all about me me me. That isn’t my personality. I always want others to shine and I want to make them laugh and feel good. I never ever wanted the attention, that never felt right to me and still doesn’t. Hence the reason why I don’t plan to ever marry. One night of all eyes on you sounds like a nightmare to me. You’re probably thinking this is coming from the girl who posts an #ootd on Instagram everyday. Why yes, I do that to hopefully inspire others in my outfit choices. That is the one thing I am confident most in, my outfits, my expression to the world without saying a damn thing. Other than that I never ever wanted the attention. I use to wear a wedding ring in college so men wouldn’t hit on me. I worked at Express and Michael Kors in college and they made me a “greeter” and I would BEG to do go-backs in the fitting room just so I could be in my own little shell. But this is 29. This year is different. Maybe it’s because I’m hitting 30 next year and I feel like THAT means big business. As in, I’m really no longer a spring chicken anymore. Life flies by and it is quite scary. It’s petrifying. I can say my 20s were the BEST years of my life. I partied my ass off in college every single night in NYC, and I mean every single night. My mother had a 12 hour successful spinal fusion surgery, my father battled leukemia and fought that mother fucker (sorry not sorry for my French), my brother was in a motor cycle accident and is fine, my sister changed her career path and took a huge risk and is happier than ever, I moved out of my childhood home, my parents divorced and I was okay but now it really hits close to home for me and I’m working on it, my old boss at the law firm I worked at for 7 years who I was super close with passed, he was one of the best men I ever knew. Lots of my friends got married and had babies, I rekindled old friendships/relationships, I realize things now that I never realized in my teens. I get why they say youth is wasted on the young. I started my blog which I love doing and love curating new outfits all day everyday, that makes me happy, I have the bestest friend a girl can ever ask for, I don’t even consider her a friend, she is my soulmate/soul sister. And most importantly, and I mean most, i met the love of my life, the man who gives me any/and everything, who would drop the world for me. He is the nicest, sweetest man and from there we had the most gorgeous little boy. I am healthy, Andrew is healthy, Mason is healthy. That is all in my life that matters. I am really lucky and I think about how lucky I am everyday and every decision I have made that’s led me to where I am. Now we have opened our own business and its super successful and we are overwhelmed with positive feedback. I love my family, I love my life. 2017 is going to be one of the best years yet for me. I am so thankful for the years who have made me, me. Bring it on 29, I’m feeling it. (Sorry I wrote this extremely quick and did not proofread!)

Busy Mama

Happy New Year to all! I love New Years, I love New anything. Always a new challenge and adventure which I am up for. And speaking of new, this dress came in the mail the other day and I was so excited because I am a huge fan of the built in choker, one less necklace I need to worry about! Like I said in my previous cut-out neck post this detail adds sexiness without showing too much. Too much skin is never good and this is the perfect amount. And I love how the dress is ribbed adding a nice texture and touch! This can be dressed up with a pair of OTK books and a hat or the way I style it over jeans. I like the vibe the bell bottoms add, almost 70s inspired. If worn as a dress, it is a swing dress style so even little ankle or sock boots would look great. I just see the bohemian potential this dress has to offer. It is also on sale and I will provide a link* below. Today’s look was just simple, one that I can actually maneuver in because it is a busy day. We started off at the doctor for Mase, then he wanted his favorite (chicken noodle soup) from Panera, fill his prescription, go food shopping, renew my license (bc I’m getting old) and do a hundred loads of laundry (that’s what it feels like anyway). Oh and let’s not forget I still need to take down my tree. I tackled all the decorations yesterday, phew! Sorry for the run-on sentences but I don’t think the grammar police are reading today anyway! Happy Monday y’all!

Sweater Weather

There is nothing better than a big chunky knit sweater to warm you during this time of year. I am picturing hot chocolate and a fireplace right about now. What a dream. That’s what this sweater brings my mind to, all those cozy places. This sweater in particular I have gotten so many compliments on, (I’ve worn it three times in a week, no shame) and every person who complimented me asked me where I got it. I love a cut out because it adds some sexy to the ensemble without showing too much. You can still have a minor cut out by your neck and still be super warm. The way the sweater wraps around your neck makes up for it. I also feel that you don’t need to accessorize as much due to this detail. And also, the zippers in the sleeve came in handy not only to add cute edge, but to unzip because I was so warm in it. Mason had a fun time zipping and unzipping them, over and over again! He thought it was a game and I was like okay hunny it’s time to stop before it breaks 🤣. So I have added the link to this sweater and to a few more that are cute and cheap. I hope you this helps you find your future choker sweater!

Word to the Wool

Happy Merry Christmas Eve! I tossed and turned all night like a toddler waiting to hear Santa’s footsteps on the roof. I don’t know why I was so anxious, maybe for today’s festivities but as a result of zero shut eye, my eyes are red, swollen and burning and I already need a drink. Since I have to hold off for mimosas til company gets to my house, I will successfully drown myself in coffee. I also woke up extremely moody but coffee has saved the day. I took these pictures yesterday, well my mother did, as the UPS men were staring at us like we were crazy but I just kept thinking, my coat is amazing and I need these pictures! It’s not too often you buy something on the rather cheap side and it is carefully made with such precision and intent. The lines of the lapel make for a classic movement and will forever be a staple in any wardrobe. This coat exudes elegance and sophistication. Hence I needed to throw on a pair of fake specs! The quality of this coat is pristine, it’s heavy and firm. Oh and the kicker, it has POCKETS!! I could wear a paper bag if it had pockets. I think any and everyone is obsessed with apparel with pockets. Well I can go on and on about this coat but you need to order it for $25 and see the beauty for yourself. Of course I will provide a link* below and I hope you like today’s post. I know, who posts on Xmas eve? Oh well I do! It’s for a great cause (because everyone should own a wool coat that doesn’t break the bank!)

Pardon my Fur

The only bad thing about real fur is that it’s real. The only bad thing about fake fur is that it’s fake. It’s like a double edged sword or a catch 22. You can’t win. Or can you? I hit the fake or shall is say “faux” fur jackpot when I ordered this baby. Not only is the chevron touch appealing to the eye, it is appealing to the touch too. It doesn’t feel like fake fur, it feels real!! Fake it til you make it right? But don’t actually make it because then that would mean killing a poor little animal. It’s so bittersweet, animals I mean. You don’t want to eat them but you also need iron and don’t want to be anemic, you don’t want to wear them but you also need that warmth in the winter that a regular coat just can’t provide, you drive a BMW and really don’t want leatherette seats, I get it. I’m telling you this is something you need to experience for yourself, this coat I mean. It looks good without looking cheesy like most fake furs. And there were no animals harmed in the process. And PETA won’t flowerbomb you! The best part? It’s on sale for 1/2 off! $33 bucks to look furbulous! Okay now THAT was cheesy. Go get your vegan coat and of course as always, I will provide a link*

Jord Watch

I was given the opportunity to do a product review of choice on any men’s Jord watch. I decided on the Dover series because it matched my personal style best. I was excited to do a men’s review because I used to only purchase men’s watches simply for the fact that I love a bigger face. I always liked the way that looked on a petite wrist opposed to a dainty women’s watch. I like the boldness and it definitely catches the eye a bit more. When I received my watch in a timely manner, (no pun intended) naturally I opened the box to be extremely impressed. The smell of cedar pleasantly infused my nose and I immediately fell in love with the packaging. It is a wooden box with a big “J” (which also happens to be my initial) on the outside. I could only help but think I would use this as a statement piece in my bedroom to store other things while occupying the timepiece in everyday life. The watch doesn’t only tell time but has a therapeutic aroma (think Burberry Touch for Men, a woodsy smell, if you will). The watch came wrapped around a burlap pillow which gives the effect of nature and a modern approach. The numbers on the watch very masculine, and the second hand the color blue, which gives the watch a pop of vibrance. The inside of the face is a stainless steel which is a muted shine with any movement. It comes equipped with a polishing cloth and finishing oil, to preserve and condition the wood. The watches are water resistance and treated with tung oil for grain finishing purposes. With any watch that is water resistant, I do not advise using in water. Ever. This watch can easily become a conversation starter due to its uniqueness and soothing nature tendencies. It is a refreshing change from your everyday silver or gold watch. Because it is neutral, it will go with sporty, casual or fancy dress. The beauty of this watch is also that it comes with extra links. It’s not to late to give the gift of Jord this Christmas. I will provide some links below so you can check out the entire collection. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!
